Sending random and bulk emails to the masses is the thing of the past. To make campaigns responsive and effective, you must ask these questions before you launch your next campaign –
- Do you have the user consent?
This is the first and the foremost question that one should ask. A user should be emailed only if he has given his consent by opting in or subscribing to your service.
- Are you targeting the right audience?
Knowing your audience definitely helps. Study their previous responses and behavior to understand if they would be interested in receiving your email.
- Is the data collected accurate?
Are the personal details like email addresses, first name, last name etc. accurate? You don’t want to mess with this data and email the wrong user or address the user with some other name.
- Is the subject line appealing and clear?
You can verify this by asking yourself whether you would be willing to open this email if you receive it with the same subject line.
- Is the content well written and interesting?
Everyone likes to read interesting stuff. Is the content fresh and creative? Will it appeal to your audience? Is the email well written? Are there any grammatical errors? Have you used images? Emails with images are more responsive.
- Do you have call to actions in your email?
The call to action should be loud and clear with a clear suggestion of what action will be performed once the user clicks on it.
- Do you have the unsubscribe link?
Well, user consent should be respected, isn’t it? He should be able to turn off the subscription at his will if he wishes to do so.
- Are you spamming the user?
Make sure the user is not spammed and has not been receiving too many emails from your side.
- Is it a good time to send the email?
Well, timing may not seem that important but the right timing can determine whether the user will respond or not. Many studies have shown that Tuesdays and Thursdays tend to have higher open rates. Also, the geographic location of the user matters because of the time zones.
- Do you have enough means to track user response?
You would definitely want to know how your campaign performed? Make sure you have ways to generate metrics to see how many opens and clicks your campaigns received.
Launching an effective email marketing campaign is not easy but can be made easier if you were able to successfully answer these questions. I hope this helps and you reach your goal to launch a successful campaign. All the best for your next launch!
